To help people plan for after their death, financial planners Proposito have created a handy booklet to enable vital information to be stored in one place.

The Cirencester-based firm has added the easy to use document as a free download on its website, available to anyone who wants to complete it. The aim is to give them peace of mind that, when they pass on, their relatives and executors will have all the necessary information to hand.

“As a firm of financial planners, we are experienced at helping people enjoy peace of mind by guiding them to make sensible decisions about money and enabling them to prepare for their future,” said Managing Director Huw Jones.

“We understand how painful bereavement can be and many years of experience has led us to conclude that a great deal of worry can simply be removed by better preparation, ideally decades before the inevitable happens.

“The booklet, when completed, provides a comprehensive summary of day-to-day life and final wishes, helping people’s loved ones, or executors, to finalise life’s formalities.”

The After I’ve Gone booklet combines questionnaire and information. Users will be able to fill in details as wide ranging as where their Will and other important documents are kept, to information about which vets are used and pet insurance. It also covers details of funeral arrangements, as well as finances, so executors and family will know what accounts, policies etc are held.

Huw added: “We have recently been helping the family of a man who passed away. He hadn’t shared with his family the information they would need to organise his affairs easily. We have been helping the family hunt through all his paperwork and work out what he’s got, just at a time when they are grieving. This is the type of scenario the use of this booklet will help to avoid.”
