Local Charity Celebrates Re-Opening
The Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home are a small, local, independent animal charity. We care for hundreds of abused, abandoned and neglected animals each year. We have two fantastic charity shops in Cirencester, one selling furniture, one selling clothing. Our 10 shops spread across the Cotswolds help raise funds for our animal centre based near Cam so we can care for animals in need.
On Monday 23rd March 2020 we were forced to make the difficult decision to temporarily close all 10 of our charity shops including the 2 in Cirencester. This caused great concern for our animal centre based near Cam. We still had animals needing care and animals waiting to come into us. Closing our 10 shops had a huge impact on our income as we rely on the generosity of the local community to help us raise funds through our shops.
It’s been a difficult few months for the charity with the unknown of what’s going to happen next. Without the support of our fantastic community donating what they can, and offering kind words of support we don’t know where we would be now.

We received the wonderful news that we could start to re-open our charity shops! The team worked hard to ensure everything was ready and safe for the re-opening. Our furniture shop in Bishops Walk re-opened on 18th June 2020 and our clothes shop on Ashcroft Road re-opened 24th June 2020.
It’s been so wonderful to swing open those doors and welcome back our much-missed customers. We have already been overwhelmed with the support and positivity that has been received.

We feel that not only our charity is able to ‘bounce back’ with our shops re-opening, but more so the community. It’s great to see the streets of Cirencester start to have some life and positivity back and hopefully see the local community and our shops ‘bounce back’ together!
