Connect – Innovate – Resource

#Make a Difference

The Rotary Club of Cirencester and Bingham Library Trust have teamed up to promote a youth initiative based at the C-Hub, an exciting new space at Bingham House in the heart of Cirencester.

Young people are an important part of the here and now and not simply the future.

We want to provide an opportunity for young people over the age of 18 to connect and network, providing peer to peer support. We want young people to be able to innovate, leading on local projects and activities that will make a difference to the social, economic and environmental well-being of Cirencester. We also want young people to be a valued resource for local charities and voluntary organisations.

In September 2020, we held a zoom event to share our ideas and now we want to provide an update on some exciting developments.

Firstly, we are delighted to announce that Emily Hepworth, the owner of Persephone Violet, www.persephoneviolet.co.uk, is our ambassador. Emily has connections with Cirencester College and is a former winner of the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce, Young Businessperson of the Year, award. Emily has an inspiring life story and we hope, post-lockdown, to invite you to an official launch and networking event to meet Emily and find out more about the initiative; and more importantly how you can get involved and make a difference.

In addition, as a result of the initial zoom, we are teaming up with Cotswold District Council, Cirencester Town Council and World Jungle to establish a ‘youth hub’. This too will be based at the C-Hub and will support young people into employment. It is a funding partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, offering an innovative and responsive service to young people aged between 16 and 25 who aren’t in education, employment or training. We are currently awaiting a funding decision from the DWP and further updates will be made available in due course.

We look forward to catching up with you soon. In the meantime if you have any queries or would like to find out more please do not hesitate to contact me.

With kind regards, Andrew
