Gloucestershire’s award winning Barn Theatre is the latest performing arts venue to open its doors but with a little help from impressionist Rory Bremner.
The Cirencester theatre recently hosted a preview evening of its first production since Christmas, Cat Goscovitch’s new play, A Russian Doll.
The night was attended by comedian Rory Bremner, who has performed at the theatre as well as patrons and supporters of the theatre.
The Barn have teamed up with Arcola Theatre, London, for the play, which is based on a true story, which follows twenty-something Masha as she becomes embroiled in the world of data and deceit as a member of Russia’s disinformation campaigns during the EU referendum.
Iwan Lewis, Artistic Director and CEO of the Barn Theatre, said of the evening, “it was great to welcome people back in. the arts, like all industries, has suffered for over a year, we can now get the creative juices flowing and show all what we can do.”
The production will mark the Barn Theatre’s first live indoor performances since their run of Peter Pan was cut short on Christmas Eve due to the Cotswolds moving into Tier 3 prior to the third national lockdown.
A Russian Doll, will run in Cirencester till 13 June 2021. Following the run in the Cotswolds, the production will open Arcola’s new outdoor space, Arcola Outside, in East London.
Tickets for the Barn Theatre run are now on sale at barntheatre.org.uk, with prices from £11.50.
