Colleagues at Cirencester financial planning firm Proposito are stepping out in August to help support one of the town’s long-standing charities.
The team of three from Proposito – Managing Director Huw Jones, Jade Shelton and Sarah Egan – between them plan to complete 202,021 steps in 20 days, starting on August 1, in aid of The Churn Project.
The unusual target – 202021 – has been chosen as a nod to The Churn Project’s 20th anniversary, which is being marked this year. The project offers a range of support to vulnerable and marginalised people in Cirencester, who are facing crisis or difficulties.
Huw said: “Working a desk-based job five days a week makes it harder to get as many steps in as we’d like to, so we want to change this. That’s why we’re embarking on this challenge which will not only benefit the charity, but it will also do wonders for our own mental health and wellbeing.”
The team have been in training since May, gradually increasing their steps ready for the big August step-out.
Jade, technical assistant, said: “It may not seem a big challenge, but when you sit at a desk all day it’s hard to get those steps in. This is really making us think about being more active, and we’re delighted to be helping The Churn Project at the same time.”
Ailsa O’Connor, of The Churn Project, said: “We’re really thrilled to have the support of Huw, Sarah and Jade at Proposito this year, as we celebrate 20 years of working in our local community. They’ve come up with a great fundraising challenge and everyone at The Churn wishes them the best of luck.”
