Which one will you enjoy most?

The Barn Theatre is set to take you on an enchanting journey of excitement, discovery, music and magic, you won’t want to miss, with the eagerly awaited launch of their Autumn season programme.

“Family plays a big part in our productions for this season with something for all ages to smile about, hopefully reflecting our place as a source of inspiration in the community.” – Iwan Lewis, Barn Theatre, CEO & Artistic Director.

An Elephant in the Garden, 31st August – 11th September

Michael Morpurgo, the international bestselling and beloved children’s author returns to the Barn on August 31st with his third adaptation of one of his most cherished books. The Barn has produced two previous productions of the authors work, The Butterfly Lion and Private Peaceful both of which received 5-star acclaim.

An Elephant in the Garden follows the story of a girl Lizzie, her mother and an elephant from a zoo fleeing the Allied bombings of Dresden in 1945 Germany.

Described by critics as a thought provoking, engaging and masterful piece of storytelling, this performance is sure to capture your hearts.

Michael Morpurgo said of his return to the Barn:

Back in The Barn!  A new beginning beckons for everyone involved with theatre. The Barn has led the way, doing everything that was possible to keep live theatre going during these dire times. Well dire is over, we hope, over and done with. Plays can play again. Audiences need wait no longer for the show to begin. How they will love it, how we will all love it, to be together again!

David Copperfield, 28th September – 30th October

Based on the Charles Dickens classic, arguably his favourite, the Barn’s adaptation will take you on a vibrant, colourful, magical, journey of musical discovery from the world of toy theatre to the world of David Copperfield.

Original songs by Chris Larner layer beautifully into this piece and will effortlessly sweep the audience along as the multitalented actor musicians play out the tale.

This brand new stage adaptation comes from the hugely talented Simon Reade who adapted our award-winning production of Private Peaceful, and sees David Copperfield taken on a whirlwind of surprise with each character that comes his way.

This is one you won’t want to miss!

Cinderella, 16th November – 2nd January

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a bit of magic and laughter and this year’s production of Cinderella is set to be a real cracker!

The Barn’s 2021 season would not be complete without a festive treat for the whole family. Alan Pollock who wrote the Theatre’s sell out hit, Christmas Carol is back with a new adaptation of the Brothers’ Grimm classic.

Wilhelm and Jakob are the ultimate odd couple. They are the Brothers Grimm. It’s late and the brothers are arguing. A young girl appears, Cinderella and we are launched into a tale of kindness, cruelty, music and magic, slippers, pumpkins and wolves. Blending song, illusion and puppetry this production will be Cinderella as you’ve always known it but never seen before. This is Christmas theatre Barn style!

You can buy a family ticket for as little as £7.50 per person* and for a limited period only, until the 10th September, if you purchase family tickets for all three productions you would qualify for a further 20% discount on the children’s tickets!
