“THERE ISN’T A THEATRE IN THE COUNTRY LIKE THEM!”  – West End Best Friends

Since opening in 2018 the Barn Theatre has built a reputation for providing creative theatre to rival the best in the country and for 2022 the Barn is set to take you on another high-quality exciting journey of theatrical discovery.

From Comedy, Murder Mystery, enthralling, challenging drama, Musicals and Thrillers, through to another Christmas blockbuster, the Barn’s 2022 season will have something for everyone in a seven-show extravaganza which opens on February 4th and ends with its big Christmas production from the 21st November to the end of the year.

The first of their seven productions opens with:

Murder for Two – 4th Feb – 5th March

The perfect pick me up for a cold wet February, Murder for Two is a high-energy musical whodunit, a zany blend of classical musical comedy and madcap murder mystery with a twist. Two actors play thirteen characters… with a piano. A witty and winking homage to old-fashioned murder mysteries.  You won’t want to miss this killer musical comedy!

For those who loved the Barn’s previous productions of 39 Steps, Importance of Being Earnest, and Hound of the Baskerville, you’ll love this one!

The killer, musical comedy everyone wants to see.

The Mozart Question – 21st March – 30th April

Originally, programmed for their 2020 season, pre pandemic, the eagerly awaited return of Michael Morpurgo’s, The Mozart Question will be the Barn’s big spring production. This story is regarded by Michael Morpurgo, as the most important work he has ever written. Set in the modern day, it centres around an acclaimed violinist Paolo Levi and his family’s connection to the Holocaust. The story follows Paolo as he recounts how his parents were both interned in a concentration camp and forced to play in the camp orchestra. An Incredible story with beguiling music which will captivate everyone.

Some Enchanted Evening – 6th May – 28th May

Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II pioneered a flair that was all their own in the golden age of musical theatre. The duo dominated the big screen with hits such as The Sound of Music, South Pacific and Oklahoma. Some Enchanted Evening will enthral you with some of their most stunning compositions.

Million Dollar Quartet – 6th June – 16th July

Four Legends come together… for a once in a lifetime recording.

On December 4, 1956, a twist of fate brought together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. Million Dollar Quartet captures the contagious spirit, freewheeling excitement, and thrilling sounds of the once-in-a-life-time event where four of music’s best talents came together.

Stunning music and a high-octane evening of old school rock and roll!

Driving Miss Daisy – 19th August – 17th September

Set in Atlanta during the civil rights movement Driving Miss Daisy centres around two people Daisy Werthan, a wealthy, sharp-tongued woman of seventy-two and an African American, Hoke, her chauffer who despite their early differences and prejudices become lifelong friends

Pulitzer Prize winner, Playwright and screenwriter, Alfred Uhry, won an Academy Award for his screenplay adaptation of Driving Miss Daisy, produced in 1989. The popular film version starred Jessica Tandy, for which she won an Oscar and Morgan Freeman.

The Girl On A Train – 26th Sept – 29th Oct

Another play based on a blockbuster movie which starred Emily Blunt, Girl On A Train is based on Paula Hawkins’ international bestseller and the DreamWorks film. A gripping mystery/suspense thriller this production is sure to have you on the edge of your seats.

The True Adventures of Marian and Robin Hood! – 21st Nov – 1st Jan

Christmas brings another feast of myth, music and medieval slapstick, MARIAN AND ROBIN! has it all – magic, acrobatics, Normans with dodgy haircuts – as the eponymous duo bury the hatchet and join forces to thwart the hapless Sherriff and overthrow his evil protector Prince John…. the wickedest man alive…

Written by Alan Pollock, of previous Barn hit, A Christmas Carol, and this year’s Brothers Grimm present Cinderella, this production is bound to be another laugh out loud family pleaser to look out for.
