Corinium Radio at the heart of our community
Whenever there is an event to celebrate, you can be sure that Cirencester residents turn out to support it … and the chances are, Corinium Radio will be there too!
Our local community radio station has been broadcasting for 16 years with our volunteer Presenters making shows to promote those exciting get-togethers right across Cirencester and beyond. We have broadcast LIVE from the Phoenix Festival and Fleece Fair, produced highlights from carol services, concerts and Science Fairs and now it’s time to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom.
Locally, we are being encouraged to mark the Platinum Jubilee over a four-day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June and there will be lots of friends and families gathering for street parties and garden get togethers, weather permitting. Corinium Radio will be supporting many of these – including the exhibition planned for Stratton’s local church, St Peter’s. The church is always open between 10am and 3pm and on this once-in- a lifetime occasion, it will be specially decorated with flowers and plants to complement the displays about the royal family. Taking the theme of red, white, and blue, local groups such as the Brownies and pupils from Stratton School have been tasked with designing a range of crowns to reflect the occasion and many more residents are loaning their royal memorabilia gathered over the years.
If your local group is planning something special, why not contact me on 07776 144033 and I’m sure Fred, one of our founder-members, will give you a ‘shout-out’ to let our listeners know what you are up to!
