Exhibition in the Telephone Gallery, Ashton Keynes

If you think that Ashton Keynes WI is a genteel group of women who sit around gossiping and swapping cake recipes dressed in immaculate floral pinnies, think again! Ashton Keynes WI is very definitely not like that and you can see the fun members all have by visiting their exhibition “A Year in the Life of Ashton Keynes WI” opening 15th September in the Telephone Gallery, a mini gallery in an iconic red telephone box in the centre of Ashton Keynes.
The exhibition showcases the wide-ranging programme of activities organised locally: interesting talks, Scottish dancing, quiz/games nights, local walks, craft sessions, pub lunches, day trips, book club, theatre trips, kayaking, and much more. The activity programme is illustrated by a number of entertaining Calendar Girls style photos, together with information about the WI.
Looking ahead, our members are looking forward to a trip to the RHS Malvern Autumn Show, a special harvest celebration, a Christmas wreath workshop led by a local florist, and an evening of Christmas carols with AK Village Choir with wine, nibbles and festive fun.
This supportive, friendly group is open to women of all ages and meets monthly on the second Wednesday in Ashton Keynes Village Hall (usually) at 7.30pm. Visitors are always very welcome to come along and, of course, you don’t need to live in the village to join. For more information, please email Sheila Ward ashtonkeynessec@wiltshirewi.org.uk and do look at our new Facebook page www.facebook.com/AshtonKeynesWI too.
