Arts Society Corinium Day of Special Interest 28 November 2023

Lunch break choices

On 27th November 2023, the Arts Society Corinium (formerly NADFAS Corinium) held a “Day of Special Interest” on New York at the Cirencester Baptist Church.  Seventy attended a superb day of 3 illustrated talks with a delicious lunch.  We were given a “virtual tour” of New York by our knowledgeable and enthusiastic speaker, Mary Alexander, who cherry picked the art and design highlights of New York.  Over the talks, we discovered more about the personalities of the artists, designers, patrons and social climbers who shaped this extraordinary and ever-changing city.

Our lunch was catered by Meliny Tim who owns the Kitchen Club. She and her team produced a wonderful spread as you can see in the pictures. See www.thekitchenclub.org.uk. Contact her at admin@thekitchenclub.org.uk, or call 07980 143289.

Lunch at the Baptist Church

Usually, the Arts Society Corinium meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm (refreshments served from 6.45pm) at Cirencester Baptist Church for an hour talk on a wide range of topics covering the decorative arts, culture and heritage of the UK and abroad. We believe that the arts have the potential to enrich people’s lives.  The Society also organises special events and visits.

Our next talk on 24th January 2024 is by Marc Allum from the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.  He will give an insight on “behind the scenes” and the great discoveries from the show.
