A MUSICAL LAUGH OUT LOUD FESTIVE TREAT FOR THE SENSES!

The Barn Theatre’s production of Treasure Island is a festive feast for the senses, transporting audiences into a world of swashbuckling adventure and holiday cheer. The magical blend of humour and music creates a uniquely enjoyable experience that captures the spirit of Christmas.
The lavish set, created by the hugely talented Alfie Heywood, is meticulously designed to resemble a pirate ship, and is a visual marvel. From the sounds of creaking planks to the billowing sails, every detail immerses the audience in the nautical world of Treasure Island. The set not only serves as a backdrop but becomes a character in itself, and the perfect playground for the energetic cast to play out the story and give the audience a captivating theatrical experience.
Directed superbly by Bryan Hodgson, he brings an energy to the script that never drops.
The cast’s performance throughout, led by the menacing scallywag Long John Silver, played by George Evans is nothing short of brilliant. Special mention must go to Sam Denia (Billy and the Squire) and Georgia Leila Stoller (Mrs Hawkins and Jenn Gunn) who are hilariously funny in their dual roles. The swaggering pirates infuse the production with rip-roaring thrills, bringing the spirit of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story to life in a non-stop musical feast of foot tapping mayhem and sea shanties galore! The on-stage chemistry and comedic timing quickly rubbed off on the enthusiastic family audience, as adults and children alike joined in without hesitation. The cast’s dynamic energy and passion made it impossible not to be swept up in the excitement.
What truly sets this production apart is the brilliant musical score, which is worthy of any West End stage. How lucky we are to have this right here on our doorstep! The talents of Lee Freeman and Mark Anderson the music composer and lyricist deserve a big shout out. The clever, witty, infectious tunes will linger long after the curtain falls.
Treasure Island at the Barn Theatre manages to capture the essence of the holiday season, offering the perfect escape for families and theatre enthusiasts alike. This Cotswold gem once again proves itself as a cultural hub, where creativity and festive spirit converge to deliver theatrical magic of the highest quality!
No wonder it was chosen by the Guardian as a top 20 UK MUST SEE this Christmas!
