Keeping you in touch with who is doing what, where and when
Welcome, Joyful July!
Long days, sunny weather and the opportunity for relaxing ā and joining in with some amazing activities and events.
Iām sure everyone knows about Project Orpheus by now (leading into the Phoenix Festival Saturday 23rd August) but did you know you can join in the Song for Orpheus, specially composed for Cirencester? Community Choir rehearsals start NOW in July so check out www.project-orpheus.com for details.

How we miss those Hares! The original Cirencester Hare Trail had seven hares, all placed outdoors so that everyone could enjoy them but sadly, three were vandalised and are now āin hospitalā waiting to be repaired but the good news is they are making a good recovery and are soon to be released into the wild again! There are also plans to add to the numbers of hares on display so ā get your thinking caps on ā where would you like to see them? Let the organiser know and your ideas could be part of the re-launched Hare Trail in October. Talk to Florence on email: shoref@aol.com
Still on the theme of following a trail ⦠there is an addition to the Blue Plaques trail in Cirencester. Follow the free guide at www.cirencestercivicsociety.org.uk and find the latest Civic Design Award on the wall of the new development previously known as Dollar Street House. Cirencester Civic Society members, Town Guides and VIPs were delighted to gather last month to present the architect and developer with their award as seen in the photograph below.
But if you fancy a day out further afield, places are still available (at time of writing) to join Arts Society Corinium on a trip to the Stanley Spencer Gallery in Cookham on 8th July and the Gardens of Cliveden 13 August. www.theartssocietycorinium.org
A little closer to home sees the Fairford Air Tattoo taking place in July. Cirencester Rotary Club sell programmes on behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund at the Tattoo – itās the biggest single fundraising event of the year for them – and they are always on the lookout for new volunteers for this event. In return for spending the morning selling programmes at the gate, all participants are rewarded with a free pass for the show from lunchtime onwards.
And, just quickly, volunteers would also be welcomed for the Phoenix Festival on 23rd and 24th August (www.phoenix-festival.co.uk ) and the Open Air Swimming Pool (volunteer.team@cirenopenair.org.uk) who are looking for volunteers to help in the Tuck Shop or on the gate.
Well, thatās all for this month but do keep in touch (email me: caroleboydell@gmail.com or call 07776 144033) and let me know if you are planning a great event over the next few months ā and watch this space!
