Corinium Talking News Brings Local News to the Visually Impaired

For those people who are visually impaired or unable to hold a newspaper or book due to an illness or disability, the national network of charitable Talking News offer an invaluable service providing an outstanding source of local news and interesting magazine features for their registered listeners.

Volunteers from Cirencester based Corinium Talking News put a weekly round-up of local news items together taken from the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard along with a monthly magazine featuring a number of items of interests For people living in Cirencester, Fairford and Lechlade or any of the villages in between. Recordings are sent out on CDs in a special envelope, delivered by free post under the Royal Mail’s concession ‘Articles for the Blind.’ The recordings are also uploaded via the British Wireless for the Blind app for listeners to enjoy via Alexa or Google Smart Speakers.

Corinium Talking is a charity that is entirely dependent on funding from donors, grants and fundraising events. They are currently looking for a new team of Trustees and volunteers to help build the charity into an organisation for the future.
