Acclaimed Cotswolds dining hub, Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden, based at The Old Kennels, Cirencester Park, Gloucestershire, is thrilled to announce the opening of its second sustainable, locally sourced dining venue, Roots + Seeds Cafe & Kitchen at Gloucester Food Dock, in April 2025.
The new Gloucester Quays site will offer brasserie style menus of Modern British dishes at breakfast, brunch, and lunch daily and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and showcasing Cotswolds-sourced produce from trusted suppliers and growers, along with the very best, home-grown, fresh produce picked daily from Roots + Seeds on-site kitchen garden in Cirencester Park. Additional produce specifically for its menus will also be grown at Cirencester Royal Agricultural University’s new, seven-acre No Dig Market Garden, also located in Cirencester Park.
Situated on the ground floor of a beautifully renovated Victorian brick warehouse overlooking Gloucester’s historic Victoria Basin, the Roots + Seeds Cafe & Kitchen fit-out is now under way. In keeping with the local vernacular, the overall style is also inspired by Victorian greenhouses in keeping with the ‘kitchen garden’ ethos.

The opening of Roots + Seeds second venue reflects and builds on the success of Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden in Cirencester, which won two prestigious awards, including ‘Start-up of the Year’ at the Gloucestershire Foodie Awards 2024 and ‘Best Restaurant in the Cotswolds’ at the inaugural Bradt Travel guides ‘Slow Cotswolds’ Awards 2024. Roots + Seeds was also a finalist in the So Glos Lifestyle Awards 2024, ‘Chef of the Year’ category, and all just a year after opening.
Founders Toby Baggott and Sam Lawson-King say, “Our focus at Roots + Seeds has always been about engaging with the wider community, offering a fun, lively, family-focused environment and celebrating the fantastic fresh produce grown in our own 1/4 acre kitchen garden and from our amazing suppliers within a 25-mile radius. Growing our own food also helps us achieve yet another goal of creating a low to zero food waste restaurant.”
