Getting your admin systems and accountants/bookkeepers right is one of the most important things for running any small business.  Get it wrong – you are bogged down in paperwork, calls, emails, blame culture; Get it right – you have freed your time to earn more, develop the business more, rest more . . . whatever you want.

Traditionally a small business might have employed 2 people, a bookkeeper who does all the operational bank reconciling, VAT returns on a weekly/daily basis and the accountant who does the year end accounts and tax compliance letting you know how much tax to pay.  Sometimes they even employed 3 if the bookkeeper would not run payroll!

This can often lead to either 1) pretty much explaining to everyone twice or 2) leaving you somewhere in between, you have a bookkeeper who doesn’t talk to your accountant and an accountant who doesn’t talk to you!

Bringing in the right software will also help, it saves time for you raising sales invoices and can even speed up payments if you can use Stripe, Gocardless or Tap to Pay.  Aside from that, it let’s your accountant do the accounts as you go so you can see where you are all year round rather than waiting for the year end and often 9 months after that!

There’s lots of choices out there just make sure you have the right one.  Here at the NumberCrunchers our monthly packages include all 3, the right software Xero/Dext, the bookkeeping and the accountant all with one single point of contact.  Imagine how much easier your life could be #ditchtheadmin
