Cirencester Town Council – Our Story

We want to share our story which begins and ends with serving the local community and doing what we can to maintain and improve the well-being of the town.

There are 8 grounds staff, 13 office-based staff, 1 student intern, 16 elected Councillors and many volunteers all working on your behalf, weekdays, evenings and weekends. Our Councillors receive a basic allowance of £42 per month for serving their Ward and participating in a wide range of meetings.

In 2023, our Local Information Centre team responded to over 20,000 queries from residents, visitors and tourists.

Our Land and Property team looked after over 45 hectares of open space which adds value to our health and well-being; as well as gritting pavements and bridges in the winter and managing the river sluice gates.

Last year, we gave over £20k in grants to local organisations and community projects as well as providing community meals, supporting community safety, twinning and tourism, and activities for children and young people.

Our Markets and Events team has also contributed to Cirencester being a lively and vibrant town through the weekly Charter Market, regular Farmers’, Arts and Crafts and speciality markets, as well as the much-loved Mop and Advent.

If you want to get in touch with us, or to find out more about what we do on your behalf, please pop in to the Local Information Centre at Bingham House or visit www.cirencester.gov.uk
