Barn Cinema’s run of Oscar contenders continues with American Fiction the winner of the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. It is about a writer who is tired of the establishment profiting from the promotion of tired and offensive black stereotypes. To make his point he writes an outlandish ‘black book’ that propels him into a world of hypocrisy.
Had Dune Part Two been released earlier I am sure it would have been nominated for the Oscars as well. It has an impressive IMDb critic score of 8.7, some stunning cinematography and impressive action scenes. I’m sure you don’t need much persuading to come, but please encourage someone else who doesn’t get out much to join you too. This repeat screening is shown with subtitles and an intermission as these are proving popular with pensioners.
Nye is the story of Aneurin Bevan who championed the National Health Service. Featuring a large cast, atmospheric lighting and a superb central performance from Michael Sheen, this is the landmark 100th screening from National Theatre Live. Let’s keep his dream alive!
May ends with a school holiday, so we bring you Kung Fu Panda 4 and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Both are well-known franchises that deliver what you expect, some laughs and plenty of thrilling action scenes. These films are getting above-average IMDb Critic scores too.
