
The Barn Theatre has announced their 2025 Season proudly sponsored by Howden, and what an exciting season it is! This remarkable lineup includes three world premieres, a new adaptation of a Michael Morpurgo classic, two thrilling musicals, a timeless British classic, a return of the beloved 2019 festive show, and exciting co-productions that will take the Barn’s work across the UK.
30 JAN – 15 MAR: A ROLE TO DIE FOR, by Jordan Waller. Directed By Olivier Award Winner Derek Bond. Casting the World’s most famous spy is no laughing matter, especially when he withdraws the day before filming begins! A Role to Die For is a rip-roaring, wickedly funny comedy full of secret agents, secret agreements and secret family feuds. Directed by 2024 Olivier Award winning Derek Bond, and produced in association with Simon Friend and Bob & Co. The perfect tonic for the January blues. Suit ages 12+
28 MAR – 10 MAY: IN THE MOUTH OF THE WOLF, by Sir Michael Morpurgo. Based on a heart-wrenching true story about Sir Michael Morpurgo’s uncles during World War II, Francis is a fierce pacifist, and Pieter is a man who believes that peace can only be achieved by action. The tragic event that happens changes the course of Francis’ life forever and throws him into the mouth of the wolf. Suit ages 8+
16 MAY – 28 JUN: EDUCATING RITA, written by Willy Russell. Directed by Stephen Unwin. A life affirming modern classic comedy by Willy Russell brings together Rita, a working-class hairdresser who dreams of breaking free from her mundane life together with Frank a middle aged disillusioned academic disappointed writer and somewhat professional drinker. Her zest for life and thirst for knowledge reinvigorates him and a journey of rediscovery for both begins. Heartwarming timeless classic. Suit ages 12+
14 JUL – 23 AUG: FRIENDS, The Musical Parody – SEE IT BEFORE THE MAJOR UK TOUR. FRIENDS the musical Parody is a show-stopping, fast-paced, original musical that brings Ross, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, and Rachel back into your life in a whole new way—singing, dancing, and reminding us why we can’t get enough of their wacky misadventures in 1990’s Manhattan. For those who are fans of the series, this is a must see! Suit ages 13+
1 SEP – 11 OCT: HAYWIRE, A not-so-everyday story of The ARCHERS how was born. Written by Tim Stimpson. Haywire is a heartwarming and riotously funny new play, commissioned by the Barn and licensed by the BBC, to be performed ahead of the 75th anniversary year of The Archers. Audiences are invited to travel back with us to those halcyon days when the public gathered around their wireless to listen and lose themselves in the lives, trials and tribulations of a fictional farming family.
17 OCT – 15 NOV: THE LAST FIVE YEARS, Music and lyrics by Tony Award Winner Jason Robert Brown. Written by Tony award winner, Jason Robert Brown, this beautifully crafted impactful musical is brought to life with an acclaimed score and interweaved with the butterflies of new love and the sting of a separation. The Last Five Years is moving and thoughtful and will have you laughing one minute and full of emotion the next.
1 DEC – 4 JAN: A CHRISTMAS CAROL. A Dickens Classic about the magic of Christmas that will get everyone in the festive mood. This enchanting and uplifting musical production set to a brilliant original score will leave you and the whole family feeling full to the brim with Christmas spirit and serves as a wonderful reminder of what this time of year is truly all about.
