The New Ice Cream Parlour, ‘Naughty Gelato’ is Open!

– at Top Cotswolds Artisan Pizzeria, Cattivo Pizza, The Old Kennels, Cirencester Park, Gloucestershire

You don’t have to travel to Italy when you can enjoy incredible Gelato in the Cotswolds at Cattivo Pizza at the Old Kennels on the edge of Cirencester Park. On Friday 20th June, Cattivo Pizza opened its cute in-house ice cream parlour, Naughty Gelato, serving heavenly, homemade, traditional Italian-style Gelato and sorbets made by Cirencester-based specialists, Dolcetti.

Naughty Gelato, the naughty little brother to pizzeria, Cattivo (meaning ‘bad boys’ in Italian) will be offering five classic Gelato flavours and two sorbets from Dolcetti’s range of small batch ices including Cotswolds Cream made with Cotswolds milk and double cream, a decadent Chocolate made with 99.7% chocolate, Honeycomb, Salted Caramel,  Mint Choc Chip, and a refreshing Raspberry Sorbet made using Hereford berries and a Mango Sorbet made with India’s prized Alphonso mangoes. Choose from either one or two scoops served in either waffle cones or recyclable tubs with compostable plastic spoons and garnished with ‘Love at First Lick’ wafers.

Dolcetti is a family-run ice cream business creating a seriously incredible range of small batch, artisan Gelato and fruity sorbets made using the finest local ingredients, including milk sourced from a dairy herd based just outside Cirencester and the best quality fruits from Hereford and India. Dolcetti‘s dedicated commitment to provenance results in rich, creamy textures and intensely flavoured Gelato and sorbets. Regular customers include Michelin starred restaurants, hotels and pubs, including Jeremy Clarkson’s own pub, The Farmer’s Dog and Diddly Squat Farm Shop!

Dolcetti owner, Rob Gibson, started making gelato in South Africa in 1984 and went on to help establish the largest chain of ice cream parlours in South Africa. Gelato, a soft ice cream, is made from cream, milk, and sugar, contains little or no air and is made without artificial flavourings, palm oil or whey powder.

Toby Baggott, co-founder of Naughty Gelato, Cattivo and Roots + Seeds Kitchen Garden, Cirencester and Roots + Seeds Café & Kitchen at Gloucester Food Dock, says, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Rob Gibson on our new ice cream venture and we’ll be working with him to develop exclusive flavours for Naughty Gelato using ingredients grown at Roots + Seeds on-site Kitchen Garden, including home grown rosemary and honey from hives owned by Cattivo partner and restauranteur, Mike Robinson.”

“We’re so excited to be opening Naughty Gelato next week and welcoming all to our new, family-friendly ice cream parlour, whilst introducing everyone to Dolcetti’s incredible Gelato and sorbets.”
