Keeping you in touch with who is doing what, where and when

Is this Ordinary October? Never!
Let’s start with our very own History Festival. Once again, it’s proving a sell-out for some of the big names but there is still a lot to look out for. Highlights include: a free Second World War Walk around Cirencester, a photography exhibition at Bingham Foundation Gallery of some of the winning entries from the Rotary competition to capture Historical Cirencester: a different perspective, a talk about The Amazing Mutiny on the Bounty given by the U3A Military History Group, guided Town Walks by the Civic Society as well as the Relaunch of the Hare Trail. Hands up, who got involved in the Orpheus puppet parade and community choir over the Phoenix Festival weekend? The project, supported by Corinium Museum and New Brewery Arts (NBA), brought the whole community together and now there’s another chance for everyone to show just how much you like having the NBA on your doorstep. It’s been a tough year for a lot of businesses and community groups and NBA is no exception – so, show you care by becoming a Supporter in their use us or lose us campaign. www.newbreweryarts.org.uk
Fancy a PYO pumpkin experience? Pop along to the Pumpkin Patch to pick your own at The Old Kennels which will be opening on Saturday 11th October and run to 31st October. Park entry fees apply.
Too early to mention the C-word? Christmas is just around the corner for some people and they are getting ready NOW. So, what about joining Arts Society Corinium on 4 December on their Christmas outing to Birmingham Christmas Market and a matinee performance of the “Nutcracker” by Birmingham Royal Ballet. www.theartssocietycorinium.org

Or at least start your shopping soon with JOY, launching on Saturday 25th October at New Brewery Arts. Browse their celebration of everything crafted for the season by hundreds of UK craftspeople. What a treat!
And talking of treats – I was delighted to attend the launch of a new website organised by Cirencester Soroptimists. Take a look at https://whatson4women-cirencester.co.uk for your go-to place for activities, clubs and communities – from fitness classes and creative workshops to social events and support groups. Around 40 invited guests showed their support for the initiative at the Soroptimists Open Evening last month – an evening full of enthusiasm, positivity and sharing good news.
Well, that’s all for this month but do keep in touch (email me: caroleboydell@gmail.com or call 07776 144033) and let me know if you are planning a great event over the next few months – and watch this space!
