Butterflies

   after Hilda Morley

      What fun

                   they have in their

                                                          diz-

                                              zy

                                        dance

                        as they shimmy

                from lilac

                         to lavender, flirt

                with fritillaries —

   with no

             plan to guide

                         them through shrubs

and borders

no map to chart which petal

                                                    to land on.

                                   Gid-

                                         dy with nectar, they

                                                      flit from

                                    flower to flower

                                 in a promiscuous flutt-

                                                                    er

                                                                 of

                                                                     wings.
