Keeping you in touch with who is doing what, where and when

Hello October – and Christmas is looming!

The shops seem to have forgotten Halloween and gone straight to December with Jingle Bells promoted everywhere. So, let’s not get left behind…head straight to New Brewery Arts for their JOY exhibition, a celebration of craft opening on Saturday 17 October.  Call in and see handmade crafts and festive decorations from over 100 emerging and established UK makers.

And while you are in your jolly mood, make sure you put Cirencester Town Council’s Advent Market and Light Switch-On in your diary on 28-29 November with Christmas Markets over 5-6 December.

Closer to home, catch the last tidy-up session of the year with the Gardening Group at the Obelisk, on Tuesday 6 October, 5.00 – 7.00pm. Details: http://www.aqiva.co.uk/the-obelisk

And there’s a great concert coming up on Saturday 10 October when The Corinium Players Guitar Ensemble is hosting a concert at Cirencester Baptist Church. Supported by guest choirs from Powells and Deer Park School, it starts at 7.30pm – and it’s all for a good cause, helping raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity.

Finally, just a quick look back at a fabulous Heritage Open festival weekend in Cirencester. Hosted by Cirencester Civic Society, twenty venues opened their doors free of charge and the town was buzzing! Thank you to all the volunteer Stewards, businesses and organisations who put on an amazing Cirencester showcase from views of the Cirencester Band rehearsal room to going behind the scenes of Bingham House and Ivy Lodge, special free entry and guided tours around Cirencester Park and a trip down memory lane with archivist Robert Heaven, courtesy of BARN Theatre. It was a weekend to remember.

Well, that’s all for this month but do keep in touch, please email me: caroleboydell@gmail.com or call 07776 144033 and let me know if you are planning a great event over the next few months – and watch this space!
