TNC – GETTING IT RIGHT – SELF EMPLOYED ACCOUNTS

Owners Gaynor Hutton left, and Howard Smith 2nd from right, with Noa Thorn, Claire Millard and Caroline Pattison

Working for yourself is many things – exciting, liberating … and also a little scary! Most people have an inbuilt fear of brown envelopes coming through the letterbox – sometimes for good reasons!

HMRC have far reaching powers – failure to submit your self-assessment on time results in an immediate £100 fine. More than 6 months late means an additional £300 fine plus interest on monies owed to HMRC. Aside from the financial impact of getting it wrong, there is the stress of it all and the time required to sort out the back log – so it really is worth getting it right – and surprisingly easy to do so!

At The NumberCrunchers, we provide all the advice, software and accounting knowledge to make this all happen with minimal client input, allowing them to do just do their job! We automate to avoid clients having to keep information on spreadsheets or retain physical receipts – Apps do the daily heavy lifting while we ensure the information is effectively processed, ensuring the self-assessment tax returns reach HMRC well before any deadlines.

MTD (Making Tax Digital) – going forward (from 2026), self-employed people will move from annual filing to quarterly and will need to use approved software to file. While this may be a mighty upheaval for anyone without an existing system, all our clients will be able to slickly progress to quarterly returns with no impact to their routine – so give us a call to discuss your accounts – The NumberCrunchers – Where Everybody Counts!
