Barn Cinema March 2024: The Biopic is King

Priscilla – showing at Barn Cinema now.

Here’s another shout-out to the hard of hearing; Barn Cinema often has subtitled screenings and would love to see you return to the movies. We have great biopics and dramas recorded live on stage and we guarantee a great trip out.

Maestro is a biopic about Leonard Bernstein the composer-conductor and his strained marriage to wife Felicia that has earned praise for the performances of Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan. The excellent sound system in The Barn enhances the musical sequences.

Priscilla is also about marriage, this time with the King of rock’n’roll Elvis Presley through the eyes of his child bride. Sofia Coppola is one of several female directors denied recognition at the Oscars. Of course, in a good year, not everyone can win.

We also have National Theatre Live’s The Motive and The Cue based on a real-life event; a time in 1964 when Sir John Gielgud directed Richard Burton on Broadway in his version of Hamlet. Sparks fly.

But first up, there’s a repeat of Vanya, with Andrew Scott (Fleabag) bringing multiple characters to life in an adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya – a story of hopes, dreams and regrets that sold out before. It’s five-star entertainment.

Come back to the cinema and book now to get the best seats!
