Cirencester Radio December 2024: A Year in Review

Members of the Threads of History production team

As I write this, Christmas is fast approaching and, with many memories to reflect on, I realise what a whirlwind year it has been for Cirencester Radio.

This amazing community radio station, based in the Kings Head Hotel, began the year with a new Chairman who realised his aim of running a station that provided something for everyone – from music to the spoken word and everything in between. Podcasts were introduced and even more collaborations took place to really broaden the output of the station. And just take a look at the website, now refreshed and so easy to find your favourite show.

Over the year, Cirencester Radio has participated in events like the Big Lunch in Abbey Grounds and the Phoenix Festival and has supported the fantastically successful Cirencester History Festival as well as hosting the Community Upstart events which took place in the lead-up to the Festival, with the final event being a video documentary celebration of local history as seen through the eyes of a team of Cirencester College students. Thanks are due to so many people, organisations and businesses who helped make this happen, especially Corinium Museum who hosted the private viewing in their Cinema. Look out for the video, soon to be launched on you-tube.

So, on this high-note, I am going to say my goodbyes as a regular Cirencester Radio contributor to Ciren Scene. I have really enjoyed updating you every month on the goings-on of our local community radio station, powered by a team of totally committed volunteer Presenters and Producers – but now it’s time for a change so do keep in touch!

Cirencester Radio wishes everyone a very merry Christmas!
