Fingers crossed for Anxious April! Why? Because there is so much happening across the town, there is a distinct FOMO or ‘fear of missing out’!

Let’s start with a free organ recital at the Parish Church, launching again on the first Sunday of the month and, on Saturday 5th April (the day before), the Saint Cecilia Singers are presenting ‘Music for Passiontide’ at 7.30pm. Tickets in advance £15 or £17 on the door. Check the website www.cirenparish.co.uk  Plus an enormous “thank you” to those who attended the Organathon last month where the audience raised a fantastic £2000 for the church.

Come along to the Civic Society’s Monthly Talk on Monday 28th April and find out about Cirencester’s role in a massive secret project spanning the fifty years of the Cold War period (from the 1940s to the 1990s). Listen to Dr Martin Davis’ Talk, Soviet Maps of Gloucestershire at Ashcroft Hall, Cirencester, doors open 7pm for 7.30pm. Organised by Cirencester Civic Society, it’s free entry for members or a donation on the door for visitors. Details from www.CirencesterCivicSociety.org.uk

Now for a “call to arms” from Cirencester’s open-air swimming pool which is due to open its doors on 10th May for Season Ticket holders and Saturday 11th May for the general public. But before then, all those flower boxes need sprucing up to create a welcoming environment so, if you hear of anyone who has spare topsoil or plants they could donate, please contact www.cirenopenair.org.uk

And if you are a fan of YouTube, check out New Episode! Time Team Special | The Princely Burial which features Corinium Museum’s Anglo-Saxon collection. Or for something a little more up to date, turn up to the Arts Society Corinium event on Wednesday 23rd April and hear Gavin Plumley talk about the celebrated artist John Singer Sargent (1856 – 1925). So, as the Cirencester Community Awards 2025 draws near, make sure you get your nominations in for your favourite person or group. This is your opportunity to say “thank you” to all those individuals and organisations who do so much for their local community of Cirencester.

Check out the website: www.CirencesterRadio.co.uk for more details and do let me know (caroleboydell@CirencesterRadio.co,uk or 07776 144033) if you would like to attend the free, ticketed Awards ceremony on Wednesday 30th April.
