Events at St Peter’s Parish Hall aim to bring joy
For the past two years, a committee at St Peter’s Catholic Parish in Cirencester have been planning events to raise funds to update and upgrade the facilities at the Parish Hall. With a new kitchen, update to the loos and cosmetic work on the list, these fundraising events aim to bring joy as opposed to fundraising fatigue!
Some of the events that the committee have offered to the wider community are Film Nights & Sing Alongs. So far, they have shown The Sound of Music (twice), The Greatest Showman and Mamma Mia, and have plans to offer both Mamma Mia films back-to-back in early October. It’s uplifting being in a room with eighty people singing along with the characters, even for those who do not wish to sing!
However, it’s not just the film or the singing, the committee at St Peter’s plan the events to create a joyful experience for the attendees. This includes themed food like Maria’s Crisp Apple Strudel to match the films, stepping into a circus-like Big Top tent, or Greek flags and décor that transport you to Sophie’s wedding. Furthermore, fancy dress is always encouraged which only adds to the fun.
Tickets are now on sale for the Mamma Mia Film Nights. On Friday, 02 October, attendees will watch and sing along to the 2008 Original film. On Saturday, 03 October guests can watch and sing to the prequel/sequel Here we go Again 2018 film. Each night will include a delicious selection of themed food. There will be different themed raffle items each night along with special drinks available for purchase. Choose one or both nights!
