This month, Somewhere Else Writers offers readers a contemporary haiku, written by Norman – the newly elected Group Chair.
Jock says ‘I capture fleeting thoughts and moments’. This poem is about two people falling in love.
Jock continues to travel to places that will inspire him. He started writing for his school magazine ‘The Retfordian’. Then, when a student, he wrote short stories in The Irish Mountaineering Club Magazine.
It was while working in Japan that he became fascinated by the haiku; the short intense poems still fill him with joy. He examines our contemporary world. To read his haiku, go to cirenscene.com and search for Somewhere Else Writers in the Online Magazine search field.
You can see much more from the group and hear recordings of their work on somewhere-else-writers.org where you can also discover more about the activities they carry out in and around Cirencester.
