This winter, the Cotswold Sculpture Park will host its first-ever Winter Lightshow — a month-long celebration of art, light, and community designed to lift spirits during the darker months.
While the Sculpture Park is already well-known for its ever-changing collection of contemporary artworks set among trees, ponds, and winding paths, the lightshow will offer visitors something entirely new. It’s not just a display of illuminated sculptures, but an immersive experience featuring light trails, glowing installations, and a chance to spot the breathtaking beauty of the aurora borealis. Visitors can expect a mix of creativity and atmosphere that brings the landscape to life in a whole new way.
The team behind the park are creating this lightshow with a clear purpose: to bring a little brightness and joy to the heart of the community throughout the festive season. The event aims to make art and access to nature available all year round, even in the depths of winter.
At its heart, the lightshow is about connection — with nature, with art, and with one another. Christmas is a time for spending time with loved ones and making new memories, and the park hopes to offer a setting that encourages just that. The event will feature crackling fires, mulled wine, and seasonal treats, creating a welcoming space where visitors can soak in the festive atmosphere.

The Cotswold Sculpture Park has always been a deeply personal project. Founded ten years ago by Dave Hartland near Somerford Keynes, it remains a proudly independent and family-run venture. What began as one man’s passion for art and landscape has grown into a thriving creative destination. He now runs it alongside his son, Tadd, and together they have built a space that celebrates creativity, community and the environment.
Visitors familiar with the park in summer will find a transformed experience in winter. Paths that once meandered through greenery will glow with shifting light and shadow; sculptures will take on new forms under the evening sky and the park will come alive with the spirit of winter. Children can follow light trails that sparkle and change, spotting hidden surprises tucked among the trees, while parents enjoy the magical atmosphere and the chance to share something truly special together. It’s an evening out that promises excitement, wonder, and lasting memories for all ages.
Tickets for the Cotswold Sculpture Park Lights Up are expected to sell quickly, and advance booking is essential. The event runs from 22nd November to 29th December, with full details and ticket information available at http://www.cotswoldsculpturepark.co.uk.
