The Daniel Bingham Foundation Launches Gallery at Historic Bingham House in Cirencester

The Daniel Bingham Foundation is proud to announce the official opening of the Daniel Bingham Foundation Gallery at Bingham House in Cirencester. The gallery launch marks an exciting milestone for the Foundation, celebrating the legacy of Daniel Bingham while creating a vibrant space for art in the heart of the Cotswolds.

Housed within the historic Bingham House, the Bingham Gallery gives visitors the opportunity to explore the life of the Foundation’s benefactor Daniel George Bingham and experience a glimpse of the Foundation’s art collection.

With grants from the Winstone Charitable Trust and St James’s Place, the Foundation has launched a permanent exhibition space at the Gallery which includes information about the life of Daniel Bingham and history of Bingham House, as well as showcasing the Foundation’s collection which includes oils, watercolours, drawings, prints, photographs, and embroideries.

The Bingham Gallery is also host to the Daniel Bingham Foundation Annual Exhibition. This year the Trustees of the Foundation invited local Cirencester based artist Laurie Plant to guest curate an exhibition of his work. ‘Contemporary Artwork by Laurie Plant’ brings together selected works about Cirencester, Bingham and the artist’s recent work. The Bingham Gallery is open to the public all year around Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4pm and on Saturdays from April until 20th December 2025 from 10.30am to 3.30pm. The gallery is free to visit and has activity and colouring sheets for families.

Gary Selwyn, Chair of Trustees for the Daniel Bingham Foundation, said:

“The launch of the gallery is the culmination of years of work curating and preserving Daniel Bingham’s legacy, while creating a space to support and nurture new and established talent. This is more than just the opening of a gallery — it’s the realisation of Daniel Bingham’s dream to see a place where ideas, expression and community come together. His belief that art and culture should be accessible to all is what drives everything we do.”

Guest artist and curator of our inaugural exhibition Laurie Plant added:

“It’s a real honour to be part of this moment. The gallery is not only a fitting tribute to Daniel Bingham’s vision but also a rare and beautiful space for artists to share their work with a wide and engaged audience. I’m thrilled to be the first exhibiting artist and to contribute to its opening chapter.”
