Cirencester Radio hosts Community Upstart

Get set for October!

The month might be September but there is such a lot happening in October in Cirencester that you simply must plan your diary now!

By now, I’m sure you’ve heard, Cirencester is launching its very first History Festival. Taking place during October half term, there is a whole host of entertainment for all the family. Join us for talks by some of the country’s most respected speakers, writers and thinkers such as Jonathan Dimbleby, Max Hastings and Natalie Haynes as well as crafting, storytelling and walks discovering the history of our wonderful town. Tickets go on sale 6th September so check out the website www.cirencesterhistoryfestival.org for information.

And, just to get us in the mood, Cirencester Radio is hosting some fabulous Community Upstart events in the lead-up to the History Festival. Featuring local groups and individuals with a love of history and a passion to share it – why not come along and see what’s on offer across the town? The first event on Saturday 19th October is introduced by Robert Heaven, the well-known columnist and expert in historical Cirencester who will be taking us through Old Cirencester by way of his outstanding collection of images. This is followed throughout the week by talks as diverse as Cirencester music icons, military history, the Mammoth graveyard (meet the couple who made the discovery) and hear about Dorothy Wilding, the first woman photographer to be granted ‘by appointment’ status to the Royal Family – all with local connections.
